Lake Nakuru

February 25, 2013

We bid farewell to Samburu, Kenya, saying goodbye to the wonderful staff at Larsen’s Camp. Then we drove off on a full day’s journey to Lake Nakuru. We stopped to photograph the beautiful Thompson’s Falls in the Aberdare Mountains and drove by acres of Kenya tea plantations. Lake Nakuru is famous for its outstanding bird populations, especially for the flamingos. Also, an indigenous and very rare white rhino herd makes Lake Nakuru its home, as do the Rothchild’s giraffe, a new species for us.
