A small rain storm came through the Ndutu plain, leaving the air refreshed and revitalized. We watched the cheetahs relaxing after lunch. We photographed the yellow-winged bats hanging upside down in the trees by the lodge and enjoyed the genets playing in the lodge rafters during dinner. The lions relaxed and slept under the trees resting up before a big hunt after dark. Most astonishing we happened upon a large eland herd, their shyness making them difficult to approach, let along photograph. When frightened, they took off running en masse, leaping into the air and “pronking” with all four feet off the ground, just like excited alpacas.
